It's Legal...

The very first country to criminalize cannabis was Jamaica way back in 1913, this prohibition spread to a large number of countries across the globe. By 1928 it officially reached the 'Dangerous drug act' and became a very taboo subject. Everyone smoked, but nobody spoke about it.

In 1953 the Netherlands criminalized it, yes, the famous 'go to for getting stoned' Netherlands, until 1972 (my birth year, they must have seen me coming) When they divided the drug industry into a more-or-less dangerous constitution and cannabis was seen as less dangerous and harmful than the rest.

Fast forward to 2001, where first Luxembourg decriminalized it, and Canada legalized it for medicinal purposes, and the rest of the world slowly followed suit. America setting possibly the finest example of what the money incurred by taxation of cannabis can achieve in re-building and healing a collapsing society.

Africa finally caught up with the world, delayed as we most always are where change is concerned, in 2017 led by Lesotho, by which time I had already acquired my new mantra that South Africa would most certainly follow suit as our countries' coffers were already completely raped from government corruption, and there was nowhere left for them to steal from, then Zimbabwe also changed its laws concerning cannabis in 2018. Their long ago ruling (early 80's) that all white people leaving Zimbabwe may never return, has now become a proposition from the Zims government inviting white farmers back into the country to do the farming of cannabis...

My prediction came to pass later in 2018 when it was finally decriminalized and we are allowed to be our Highly happy selves without fear of being arrested for criminal acts.

The stigma of smoking weed is also becoming a thing of the past, with discrimination of users receding mostly into the realm of the small-minded religious fanatics who refuse to see the solution to the endless list of disease and illness, that God himself gave to us on his Green earth.

None-the-less, South African government (bless them), is seriously considering legalizing it completely for the purpose of mass production, and of course taxation.

Let's hope that the citizens of South Africa can benefit from the taxation of cannabis and that we can finally afford to repair the damage caused by lack of maintenance and decent leaders, and hopefully pull ourselves out of the enormous poverty and lack of education we are experiencing.

Thanks for reading!

Be Happy!
